The first time I wore an Indian outfit I was 4 years old. I tried it on and felt like a princess (so much so I refused to take it off and slept in it). When it came to naming my brand, this memory came to mind and the name Mahari Collection was born; derived from the word Maharani meaning princess.
I was born in the UK and spent my childhood learning how to play the piano and dancing from ballet to classical Indian dance. My interest in the creative arts led me to study Fashion & Textiles Management at Nottingham Trent University. I started my degree in 2008 - I was nervous but above all excited to lay down the foundation for my career in fashion. To further build on my education I spent time honing my skills amongst talented design, buying and marketing teams in the buzzing London and New York fashion industries. Since graduating in 2012, I now call Vancouver, BC my home.
I have always loved mixing and matching my wardrobe and drawing inspiration from my Indian heritage in my everyday look. This mix and match aesthetic is the core essence at the heart of Mahari Collection. I love to design pieces which are versatile, timeless and most importantly make you feel amazing.
By using quality fabrics and unique silhouettes my goal is to add staple pieces to your wardrobes which can be worn over and over again. I take customer appointments from my Burnaby based studio as well as offering design services for my global clientele base.
